FTL (Full-Truckload)

FTL (Full-Truckload)

FTL (Full-Truckload) logistics is a transportation method in which a single shipment uses the entire capacity of a truck. Unlike LTL (Less-Than-Truckload), where multiple shippers share trailer space, FTL shipments move exclusively from one shipper, allowing the truck to travel directly from the origin to the destination without intermediate stops or transfers.

FTL is commonly chosen for shipments that are large, heavy, high-volume, or sensitive to handling. It is also ideal when a business needs faster transit times or greater cargo security. Because the freight remains on the same truck throughout the journey, the risk of damage, delays, or misrouting is significantly reduced.

Businesses often use FTL logistics when:

  • The shipment is large enough to fill a full trailer.

  • The cargo is fragile, high-value, or requires minimal handling.

  • A direct, time-critical delivery is needed.

  • The shipper wants full control and exclusivity over the truck space.

FTL carriers typically offer a range of equipment types, including dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated trailers (reefers), depending on the nature of the cargo. Tracking systems, appointment scheduling, and dedicated route services are also commonly included.

Overall, FTL logistics provides speed, reliability, and enhanced security, making it a preferred option for companies that need efficient transportation for full-capacity loads or those requiring uninterrupted delivery.
